East African leopards have round spots or “rosettes”, and South African leopards have spots that are square-shaped. Black leopards are also found in Africa and Asia, and are usually called panthers.
Leopards are the best climbers of all the big jungle cats. When a leopard kills an animal for food, it will usually carry it up into a tree, to keep it from being stolen by lions or hyenas.
