A baby white-tailed deer is called a “fawn”.

Fawns are born in May or June. Like the doe, the fawn’s reddish-brown coat with white spots helps it blend in with the forest, so it’s hard for predators to find it.

The Disney animated classic “Bambi”, starring a white-tailed fawn, was released in 1942. It was based on a story called “Bambi, A Life in the Woods”, one of the first “environmental” novels.
