The female white-tailed deer is called a “doe”.

White-tailed deer are fast ! In open meadows, they can reach speeds of more than 35 miles per hour, or 55 kilometers an hour. That’s almost twice as fast as the fastest human can run.

When a doe senses danger, she raises her white tail, which is called “flagging”. It warns other deer that a predator may be approaching, and it helps her fawn follow her if she runs away.
